My personal experiences and observations have found this common sense approach to have glaring gaps. Therefore I am on a quest for knowledge and a desire to advance how brain injuries are managed within individuals and within society as a whole.

Inspiration as Treatment
April 25, 2015

Just as everyone’s brain injury is different, so are their emotional triggers. My work as a neuropsychologist will be to help each patient discover what inspires them towards diligent rehabilitation. Those doubting “why me” thoughts can slow the healing process. Negative emotions are natural and OK, but a positive attitude/outlook must be their ultimate choice.

Yes the brain is complex. Yet a straight-forward, upbeat approach must be used for injury prevention, treatment and recovery. More specifically . . .

People must not live in a bubble to prevent injuries. They should go out and do what they love, but take proper precautions.

In the event of brain trauma, the injured person and their caregivers must be honestly informed about the rehabilitation path. The various support resources must be clearly lined up, step by step, ready to care.

Recovery must be an inspirational process, NOT an incarcerative process. The injured person must be lifted into environments where they can succeed.
